Television has became a part of our lives. But watching T.V. has good points and bad points.First we will talk about good points of television. We can gain a lot of general knowledge.For Example we see what’s happening in and around the world and also see live telecasts of many sports educational programes,and news. Small children like cartoons and Adults like teledrams and Films,

Secondly I likely talk about the bad points of T,V. most of the time there are only cricket matches and films. All children watching T.V. spend a lot of time then our studies are all forgotten the other bad thing is that there two many channels and when children go to school they talk about the programmers they watched and not about there studies so in conclusion my opinion is that T.V. is not a threat to education.

You can use your free time to read a news paper.It is very favourit hobby of meny people.There meny Sinhale, English and Tamil news papers,news about deaths,weater,sport,advertisement,fligts or currency rate of a special interest.

you can become a great journalist because of newspapers.Then, you will be well known and respected in your own country or every abroad.You can write letters to the editor os newspapers an any subject of interest. Thousand and thousands of people are employed in newspapers officers. News papers do a great service to man.Therefor I think all should read news papers. They must for all.

A story

Once upon a time there lived a king who had clever jester in his court. As the king was a lover of with the jester became the Royal favourite.The king was so fond of the jester that he allowed him a great deal of liberty ,talking all his pranks and rude remarks as great jokes. Talking advantage of this the jester used to play tricks on the Minister in the court too. In fact he did not show any respect even for highest officials and became a perfect nuisance in the court. But none dared to complain against him because the king was so fond of him.
One day. However the jester went too far and in some way offended the king himself.’ Curse the fool’’ dried the king in great ‘fury’ ‘’How dare you behave so badly in our presence? for this lack of respect’ fool you shall die.
The jester begged for mercy and asked the king to forgive him. But the king was so furious that he refused to alter the sentence.’ I can extend no other mercy to you’’ said the king ‘except permitting you to choose what kind of death you wish to die. Decide at once, for the sentence must be carried out’
The clever jester once turned this concession to his advantage and saved his life by saying,’ I admire your kindness Your Majesty .I choose to die old age.

wesak festival

Wesak is the most important festival observed by Buddhist all over the world. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth of prince Siddhartha and his enlightment and passing away.

On the Vesak day millions of Buddhist in the world observe various religious practices. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini park in the city of Kimbulwath in early days in India. His parents were king Suddhodana and queen Mahamaya. He attendedBuddhahood at Buddhagaya.

In this year the Vesak poya day fell on 19th of May. So , the Srilankan Govermant had request to celebrate a Vesak week. In order to that, our school principal organized some useful programs. On the first day we decorated the school and houses. We decorated the Shrine with tissue streamers and the statue of lord Buddha. The Buddhist flags were raised. We made Vesak lanterns. So our school was lighted with Vesak decaration.

We decorated not only school but also our homes and temples with Vesak

Yala national park

There are many interesting places in Sri Lanka.Yala national park is one of them. It is home of all animals. It is situated in south area in province in Hambantota district. It’s about 1360 square kilometers extent. It’s in low lands. There for climate hot and dry . but this area get north west monsoon rains from November to January and inter monsoonal rains in come in march & April.

A part from that this area provides water Manik Ganga. As well as in tanks and natural water holes hold water. We can see extensive grass lands surrounding the tanks and water in this natural park are living elephants, leopards, many species, of deer. The samburs ,the dog deer grey monkeys, reptiles, beautiful tortoise etc.

Not only that there are many valuable trees and creepers in Yala National Park. many tourists come to see Yala National park. Protecting this is a our human rights

The Sinhala and Hindu New year

. The Sinhala and Hindu new year falls on 13th and 14th of April in every year. Astrologically we consider that the sun travel from pices to aries.
The Sinhala and Hindu people celebrate this festival. They get ready to spend this festival very happily. They clean their house and paint them, buy new cloths food and drinks. They prepare lot of sweetmeats and milk rice and ripe plantains to treat the relatives who come to visit them during the festive season.

    On 13th of April they stop all the works during the inauspicious time and carry out religious observances. On 14th they kindled the hearth on auspicious time and prepare milk rice. They give the rice corn for Awrudu Kumaraya (the prince of the new year). After that the elder member of family feed food to all other. The children worship parents giving them a sheaf of betel. They bless them kindly. There after they go to visit their relations.Realations also come to their houses. Then they celebrate the new year by organizing “new year festival” with many games. Some of the games are pillow races, eating buns, and many others.
               On 16th of April people go to the temple and participate for oil applying ceremony. That day they end Sinhala and Hindu new year very happily.

Hortan Thenna

Hortan Thenna is one of the interesting places which is situated in Sri Lanka .It is in the district of ‘Nuwara Eliya’ of Central province. Any visitors can reach this place along a crooket road from the Ohiya railway station .Besides this road many finas trees have been grown by the people .

                      This area in covered with the mist. With in half one hour any one can reach Horton Thenna.The lord of the forest is level and taller tress can be seen.
                   There are two beautiful waterfalls named by Chimini Ella and Backors Ella. With the golden colour of the fally water and the sweet should of the Backors waterfall is bright the area ,Chimini Ella is close to have.
               The most beautiful and interesting places in Horton Thenna is the World End ‘small and big World End’. The World End spreads toward southern .This southern Horton thenna is high about 350 and spreads to Balangoda area. Scene is very terrific .Any way the slop at this places is very interesting .There are tress and bushes covered the land. Not only that can be seen endemic plants and fertile soil .There fore the plants .So many tourists come here to watch its beauty

My idea about a good Teacher

There are very important employments that someone can do. Such jobs are teaching, treating to the sick people, painting, engineering etc.
     So, a teacher is a very useful person to the society. I think that all the important persons are born to the society because of good teachers. I think this person can makes someone good or bad. There are good qualities of a teacher. He is a person who usually works thoughtfully. He is a very specific person. His or her behavior and working fashions can be admired.
   A good teacher has good abilities than other people. He often thinks to improve his knowledge. There fore, he reads a lot of useful books, magazines, articles, newspapers and listen to useful programs. Others in the society can follow a good teacher. If any teacher behaves badly, he is not a good teacher.
           Often the students are ready to follow a good teacher. The teacher should protect his or her glory.

They are very essential to the human being and animals.
people obtain various users from natureThey give us timber,wood,herbs,leaves,nuts,flowers,honey and barks for many purposes. Not only can trees protect water resources, it also helps control the temperature of environment
As well as the trees can clean the air.careless people destroy the environment without any responsibility.
As a result of it we face water shortages and an increase in environmental temperature.
There for we can’t live without trees.
As well as should not destroy trees.

The Wild elephant of Sri Lanka

Though Sri Lanka is a small country, many animals are living in this country . The reason for it is the good environment for them.
          From in reason the times Sri Lanka is developing rapidly and as a result of this the people hope to spend a luxurious life. Since ancient time the people cut down trees to built hoses and for cultivate. Deforestation and loss of habitat has an increased effect on the wild elephants.
                    In addition to this some people needed to take the tusks of elephant, so they kill elephants. In some occasions elephants are a threat to farmers, their crops and their lives therefore they kill elephants.
           According to my point of view, we ought to protect the wild elephants. Having elephants makes the environment beautiful. The elephants should have reserved areas and people should be prohibit from entering those reservations. As well as the government should take action against the hunters, raise public awareness through the media. I think we need to increase the number of elephant orphanages. Moreover if we follow a good plan it will turn out good for the wild elephants.
